TWO firefighters with nearly 60 years of service between them have retired from Malton fire station.

Mark Gilbank and Andrew Wrigglesworth, who both live in the town, had served as retained firefighters.

Mark is retiring after 40 years and five months of service.

Andrew is hanging up his uniform after 18 years and eight months of service.

Group manager Danny Westmoreland said: “Both Mark and Andrew have been dedicated firefighters serving their local community and assisting to maintain fire cover.

“They have amassed a wealth of experience over their service and have helped to support and develop their colleagues.”

Danny added: “We are sorry to see them leave but wish them all the best for their futures. As we lose Mark and Andrew, we welcome two new starters who have just completed their recruits course and are now operational at Malton station.”
