THE female passenger who died in a motorcycle crash this weekend was from Scarborough, police have confirmed.

The woman, aged 55, was riding pillion on a Kawasaki motorcycle with her 63-year-old husband on the A170 at about 4.30pm, between Pickering and Kirkbymoorside at the junction with Marton Road in Sinnington, when they were in collision with a Land Rover Discovery.

The man was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious but stable condition. His wife was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police closed the road until about 1.30am to allow collision investigators to search the scene, and have appealed for witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash, to contact them on 101.
