A MAN who headbutted a woman has been sentenced to more than three months in prison.
Aaron Daniel Smith, 21, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison by Scarborough magistrates for assaulting Nichola MacGregor at Birdgate, Pickering, on March 20.
Smith pleaded guilty and was also found to be in breach of a suspended sentence order. He was told that the offence was serious enough to warrant a custodial sentence of six weeks because of aggravating circumstances and he was told that he would serve the full prison sentence.
Smith’s suspended eight-week sentence was activated by the court as a result of the assault. The original suspended sentence order was made on March 7 for two theft offences.
The court also put a restraining order on Smith, which states that he must not contact or approach Nichola MacGregor and must not enter Birdgate, Pickering, until March 20, 2016.
