A GROUP of volunteers helped spruce Malton and Norton up for spring with a litter collection.
Around 50 bags of litter were cleared from the streets and verges around both towns as part of the Malton and Norton Big Tidy Up 2014.
In Norton, Beverley Road, Whitewall, St Nicholas Street car park, Church Street and the area around the railway crossing and County Bridge were all tackled. While in Malton, Rainbow Lane, Broughton Road and York Road were attended to as well ad Orchard Fields and areas around the town centre.
Antony Croser, from the group said: “It is felt that these community litter picks are making a real difference to the appearance of the towns but there is always something that has been discarded by less considerate members of society to pick up.
“Broughton Road was only picked over at the beginning of January but another three bags were collected in our latest tidy up.”
