FRYING pans were at the ready as celebrity chef James Martin demonstrated how to flip the perfect pancake on Shrove Tuesday.

James, executive chef at the Talbot Hotel, in Malton, whipped up a batch of pancakes ahead of one of his gourmet dinners.

“This is our third event and one of the busiest yet with 86 guests,” he said.

“My mum said she would make me some pancakes but I am going to be in the restaurant all day and although we won’t be serving pancakes there will be Yorkshire Puddings on the menu, which of course, are made from the same batter.”
