COUNCILLOR Paul Andrews has been elected deputy mayor of Malton Town Council.
The move follows the death of Councillor Jason Fitzgerald-Smith last month.
Coun Andrews will hold the position until the council’s annual meeting in May.
He said: “I am very honoured to have this position. Councillor Jason Fitzgerald-Smith worked very hard for the town.
“His act will be a very hard one to follow and I shall do my best for the town, its residents and businesses.”
