Serious accident on North Yorkshire road
EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a serious accident on a North Yorkshire road.
North Yorkshire Police urged motorists to avoid the A170 around the Helmsley area if possible, following the incident close to Scawton, which happened at about midday.
A spokeswoman said one vehicle was involved in the incident, and the male driver was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries.
The road was reopened at about 1.45pm.
