A NORTH Yorkshire accommodation provider has won an AA award.

In this year’s AA Caravan and Camping Awards the most improved campsite was Grouse Hill Caravan Park, Robin’s Hood Bay.

Campsites are visited by one of the AA’s campsite inspectors who look at touring pitches, facilities and hospitality before grading the site from one to five Pennants.

The overall winner, and England winner of the best campsite of the year was Polmanter Touring Park, in St Ives, Cornwall. Scotland’s winner was Cairnsmill Holiday Park, St Andrews, Fife, and Wales’ winner was Tyddyn Isaf Caravan Park, Dulas, Anglesey.

The organisation unveiled the winner as it launched its Caravan and Camping Guide for 2014.

Now in its 46th year, the guide has details of more than 900 inspected and independently graded camping parks across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
