PEOPLE are invited to can find out more about fracking and put their questions to a guest speaker as part of a campaign group’s mission to raise awareness about the controversial issue.

Frack Free North Yorkshire will show a film and host a question and answer session at the Friends Meeting House, Greengate, Malton, on Friday, February 21, to provide people with an update on fracking across North Yorkshire and give them a chance to ask questions.

The event is free and will start at 6.30pm. There will also be information packs and leaflets to take away.

The event will be attended by a representative from Dart Energy, which holds exploration licences for west York.

Friends of the Earth will also attend the free meeting at the Priory Street Centre, York, on February 17, from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Frack-Free York spokeswoman Helen Whitehead said: “This is a chance for people to have a civilised and intelligent discussion about the issues and to get involved so they can participate in the international debate.”
