A COUPLE are urging people to “Come Dancing” and help raise money for Norton indoor bowls club.

Barrie and Pat Elener, who have raised thousands of pounds for charities through their regular dances, are hosting a Valentine’s dance at the club on Friday, February 14.

There will be a mix of ballroom music, including vocals and instrumentals, big band sounds, along with popular ballroom dances, including quick-step, foxtrot, waltzes and popular sequence.

“We do hope that people can ‘Come Dancing’ with us and bring a few friends too,” said Barrie.

“Proceeds will go towards the bowls club, which we are hoping will be able to remain open and be owned, not by Ryedale District Council, but by a group acting on behalf of the members and community.”

Barrie said there is currently no bar, so dancers should take along their own drinks and nibbles.

“We had a good crowd at our Christmas dance, so do hope to see everyone again on Valentine’s Day,” he said.

“We would love to see a few more bowls members join us and feel sure there are quite a few who have gone dancing, in the past, who would enjoy an evening of music, dancing and socialising, with us.”

The dance takes place from 7.45pm to 11pm and doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, which is payable at the door.
