Lidl opens 'new generation' store in Pickering

A NEW Lidl store opened in Pickering last Thursday.

The store is a new generation Lidl – offering many existing popular lines and includes an in-house bakery, serving fresh bread, rolls and pastries.

Special promotions, including sampling goods from the bakery, were held to celebrate the opening. The store has created 16 full and part-time jobs.

A spokesman said: “We were delighted to have such a fantastic turnout and friendly response from the local community on the first day of trading. We look forward to welcoming many more customers to our brand new store.”

Surely this comment was more suited to the "man seeks job" article in the first sentence. A new supermarket is quite big news in these parts. Pickering people were a little tired of travelling to Malton for a decent low price food offering. Now they can stay in Pickering and also use it's cafes and small stores instead.
