A DECISION date looms for a controversial planning application that could see more than 200 new homes built in a small North Yorkshire town.

Gladman Developments have applied for planning permission to build 225 homes on fields near Kirkbymoorside, months after an earlier application for the same site was inadvertently approved when a committee member pressed the wrong button on an electronic voting unit.

The earlier decision on the scheme for Westfields, Kirkbymoorside, is now facing Judicial Review, but the developers have since submitted a revised scheme for 225 homes - 15 more than the original plans - and have removed a residential care facilities from the plans.

The new application is set to be discussed at an extraordinary meeting of Ryedale District Council’s planning committee on February 4, when it will meet at Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering.
