Two fishermen found dead in a boat moored in a North Yorkshire harbour have been named.

Mark Arries, 26, from Blyth, Northumberland, and Edward Ide, 21, from Amble, Northumberland, were found on a boat in Whitby harbour.

The police were called at 9.55am on Wednesday after concern was raised for their safety.

On arrival they discovered the bodies of the fishermen, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time the police said the deaths were unexplained but that there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

A date for the opening of the inquest has not yet been arranged and the Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been notified of the deaths.
