A FORMER social club in Norton is to be turned into an extension to a neighbouring industrial estate, which is designed to provide a home for small businesses.
The Malt Kilns Group will carry out work on the club in Commercial Street, to expand its complex in Mill Street by creating three new units. Permission for the scheme was granted by Ryedale District Council.
The firm said some extensions to the club building would be removed, and the main building would be refurbished and converted to improve the area’s appearance.
A statement sent to planners by the applicants said: “The accommodation created will offer local businesses the opportunity of starter and small-scale industrial units.
“The existing units at the Malt Kilns have proved to be very popular, and the proposal will extend this facility without causing any environmental harm.”
