Full Sutton murder trial jury’s third day of deliberation

Gazette & Herald: Peter Battle Peter Battle

The jury in the Full Sutton murder trial will today start their third full day in retirement.

They have yet to deliver their verdicts on Graham Richardson, 27, of Riverside View, Norton, who is charged with murdering Peter Battle, 56, in his cottage on December 30 last year.

Shortly before being sent home for another night, they viewed CCTV of him allegedly selling items taken from Mr Battle’s home after he was dead.

They also asked for Mr Justice Maler to repeat forensic evidence about the scene of the crime they had heard earlier in the five-week trial at Teesside Crown Court.

Richardson denies murder, but admits stealing items from Mr Battle’s cottage.

In the dock with him are York cousins Peter Egan, 47, formerly of Walmgate, and Darren Archer, 43, formerly of Nunnery Lane, who both deny carrying out a robbery with Richardson in York last December. Richardson admits the robbery.

The jury was first sent out to consider their verdicts late on Monday.
