RESIDENTS in Goathland have until Friday to return a housing needs survey being carried out in the village.

It is being conducted by Scarborough Borough Council, with the help of Goathland Parish Council, and the results will be used to see if there is a need for affordable homes, either to rent or to buy, for local people.

Other parishes in the North York Moors National Park have undertaken similar surveys in recent years, which have shown a demand for affordable homes for local people. This has resulted in affordable housing schemes being built in villages such as Danby, Castleton, Hinderwell and Glaisdale.

These homes are now all occupied with people with a local connection to the parish in which they were built.

If anyone with a local link to Goathland parish is in housing need and would like to request a questionnaire, they should email Scarborough Borough Council’s rural housing enabler, Colin Huby, at colin.huby@scarborough.gov.uk, phone 01723 232323 ext 2945 or write to Rural Housing Enabler, Housing Strategy Team, Scarborough Borough Council, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
