BECK Isle Museum, in Pickering, is holding its first Christmas tree festival with the support of local businesses and organisations.

The museum has decided to hold the event to provide an additional attraction in the run up to the festive season.

Mary Bell, a member of the management team, said a Christmas tree festival was usually run by churches but they had decided to give it a try.

“The aim is to provide an extra interest for people visiting the museum in the last fewweeks of the season before we close for the winter,” she said.

“We invited local businesses and groups to get involved and each tree is decorated with a theme based on what they do. Each tree also displays a sign to say who has decorated it.”

The festival runs until Saturday, November 30. Beck Isle Museum is open daily, from 10am to 4pm.
