LEADERS Heworth hit back from 2-0 down to beat Bootham 5-2 in the York Conservative Clubs’ Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.
P Hodgson and J Bedford stopped Bootham’s run before H and J Faircliffe levelled for the home side.
Nick Hobson and Colin Richardson, who made a 28 break, moved Heworth ahead, while they also held a slender three-point aggregate lead.
The match result depended on the final frame, which F Mallinson and M Robinson won for Heworth.
Acomb moved into second spot after defeating bottom placed Fulford 5-2.
B and D Hough gave them a start with a black ball result, then they went 2-0 ahead.
It should have been 3-0 but, with the scores level at 41-41, George Rawling miscued on the final black to give Fulford a point.
However, A Haithwaite and P Archer, with a 33-point win, and A Wade and L Hanson, with a 71-point win, sealed the victory.
C Simpson and N Brennan responded in the final frame with a 50-point triumph, but Acomb easily gained the aggregate.
