Fundraisers came out in their droves once again to show their support for Children In Need across York, North and East Yorkshire.

Activities went on throughout yesterday as schools, offices and shops did their bit for charity.

It was a case of “all for one and onesies for all” for staff and students at St Olave’s School, in York while head teacher Andy Falconer dressed as Zippy from the children’s TV show Rainbow.

Staff at the Acomb branch of Leeds Building Society also donned onesies, while customers made donations and took their chances to win a lucky dip prize. John Hattam, teacher at Clifton Green Primary School, got into the spirit by allowing pupils to bombard him with custard pies.

Meanwhile sixth-formers at Joseph Rowntree School were allowed to dress as characters from their favourite films and TV shows, in return for a donation.

Goole High School also encouraged its students to come dressed as popular characters, while teachers battled it out in a Mario Kart showdown on the Nintendo Wii.

Teacher Teresa Bruce said: “The students and staff have thrown themselves into fundraising for this fantastic cause – and we’ve all had great fun in the process.”
