Hairdresser launches wig service at salon

A HAIRDRESER has launched a new service after seeing one of her friends lose her hair through cancer.
Alison Wilson, who runs Park Salon in Hovingham, has set up a new wig service.
A hairdresser for 13 years, Alison said: “My friend went through horrendous treatment and was very poorly for sometime. On top of all this, she started to lose her hair which she found to be extremely upsetting,” she said.
“My friend needed a wig but I had no experience with wigs and had never fitted one before, so I started researching this and discovered that there was a severe lack of this service, not just in our area, but in the whole country.”
Alison said her friend had to travel three hours to her nearest wig fitting salon.
“To me this was quite outrageous. I knew you could get wigs on the NHS but was aware that these were very basic wigs, so I promised my friend that I would start a wig service within my own salon.”
Alison said she had been on a course last month and thoroughly enjoyed it.
