Tots2Teens in Norton celebrates first year of trading
A MUM who opened a children’s clothes shop after struggling to find items locally for her own boys has celebrated her first year of trading.
Rachel Sawyer, who lives in Norton, felt there was a gap in the market after being forced to travel out of town to buy clothes for her children.
After running a stall at Malton market, she decided to take the plunge and set up her own business.
Tots2Teens in Finkle Street offers a range of clothing from premature babies right up to pre-teens.
Rachel has also expanded to include school wear, including Trutex and the uniform for Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering.
“I have had a brilliant response from parents since stocking the school wear as many larger stores only stock items for a short period of time,” she said.
“Parents from Lady Lumley’s have also been really positive and it has certainly brought more people from Pickering to the town.”
Rachel said she hoped to expand the range to include more local schools.
“I will be approaching primary schools and would be delighted to hear from any head teachers in the area who would be interested in me stocking their uniforms,” she said.
Rachel said she received a lot of support from local people and had a loyal group of regular customers.
“I’ve come a long way since opening the shop and I’ve had a good year of trading and have reinvested in the business and stock,” she said.
“It was a gamble to open but I knew I had to take the opportunity and do it.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to many more years of trading.”
