Ryedale District Council sets up Community Grant Scheme
12:15pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
COMMMUNITIES from across Ryedale are set to benefit from a new £50,000 grant scheme.
Ryedale District Council has allocated the money to a new grant fund – The Community Grant Scheme.
The scheme is open to any Ryedale community-based organisation or group, for projects in the area, such as village halls, play areas, sports facilities, village owned shops, activities and events that support the local community.
Groups can apply for up to £5,000 capital or revenue funding. Projects considered by the fund can be varied and diverse but must be able to show that they make a positive contribution to at least one of the council’s stated priorities.
There are two panel meetings at which schemes will be considered and the deadlines for applications to the panels are November 8 and February 7, 2014.
Coun Linda Cowling, leader of the council, said: “This new grants scheme is designed to kick start projects which have the support of their community.
“Often it is the case that if support is given by the district council then other grants can be obtained which in turn enables our communities to carry out schemes which otherwise may not happen.”
Wilton Village Hall benefited to the tune of £10,000 from a similar grant aid scheme earlier this year.
