New headteacher at Rillington Primary School
THE new headteacher at Rillington Primary School has said she will not be rushing to make future plans for the school.
Instead, Sally Lidgley, 52, wants to take the time to get to know the staff, pupils and their parents before deciding how to move the school forward.
She said: “I want to get to know the children and their parents really well so I think it’s too early to say what my future plans are.
“So much positive stuff has already been done in the school so my plans will be to move the school forward as a really successful learning environment.”
Mrs Lidgley joins the school from Northstead Community Primary in Scarborough where she was a lower Key Stage 2 phase leader for four years.
Her role involved leading the Year 3 and 4 pupils in their teaching and curriculum and also assisting with pastoral care.
She joins Rillington in her first head teaching role, taking over from acting headteacher Janette Wilkinson who is now the new head at Weaverthorpe Primary School.
The change is a big jump for Mrs Lidgley who was used to teaching at a school with 610 pupils. Her new school has just 126 pupils, but she says it is a welcome change.
She said: “It’s a big difference but I am really enjoying being here.
“It is very much a community feel and it is backed by a really wonderful community and you definitely get that feeling when you walk in to the school.”
