Kirk Theatre in Pickering getting more volunteers
12:48pm Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
A STRUGGLING theatre opened its doors to urge new volunteers to join in a bid to save the theatre. The Kirk Theatre in Pickering held an open evening last Friday so people could look behind the scenes.
Theatre manager Luke Arnold said: “We had a steady stream of people, numbering over 30, who had individual guided tours with existing volunteers, a cup of tea and a chance to really find out more about the running of the theatre. I feel really optimistic, but we won’t be resting till we have new folk in place doing the jobs.”
As previously reported in the Gazette & Herald, the Kirk Theatre is facing closure unless more people join as volunteers to help run it.
The team at the theatre will be fundraising across the weekend following their Friday night show. Any donations of cakes or offers to help are encouraged and people should phone Bridget on 01751 476804.
Anyone who is interested in volunteering with the theatre should email Aimee on firstname.lastname@example.org
The theatre’s Blitz and Pieces show will run from next Wednesday to Sunday, October 13. Tickets are available from the theatre box office and doors open at 6.45pm.
