Young farmers group create naked calendar for charity
A YOUNG FARMERS group has come up with a way of raising money for charity by baring all in their very own Kirkbymoorside calendar. Although those who buy the calendar can expect to see the usual rural calendar scenes of hay bales, wellies and rolling hills over the next 12 months, this is a calendar with a difference.
Twelve members of the Kirkbymoorside Young Farmers group stripped off to create a naked calendar to raise money for The Farming Community Network, a charity providing help to farmers with business, health or family issues. Secretary of the Kirkbymoorside Young Famers, Louise Knight, said: “It was one of those things we said we’d do but never thought we actually would.
“We were stood in an oil seed rape field and cars were going past and waving at us, it was quite comical really.”
The group was initially apprehensive about getting their kit off for charity, but Louise said they are all really pleased with the finished product.
She said: “My grandma has already bought 30 and we have taken them to local shows including Ryedale and Egton. We are all really pleased with how the pictures have turned out.”
The group is hoping to raise £2,000 and has already sold about 200 calendars. Local businesses including, The Plough Inn, Wombleton; The Crown, Hutton-le-Hole; The Blacksmiths, Lastingham and J Wood and Sons at Kirkbymoorside are also stocking the calendars.
To order a calendar phone Louise on 07792 793103.
