12:32pm Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
NORTON Brownies are celebrating their 60th birthday next month and inviting former members to join the party.
The group, which meets at Brooklyn in Langton Road, is marking the diamond anniversary with an open afternoon which will look back at the history of the Browine pack.
Leader Diane Downing said they had held a number of events to mark the anniversary.
“We started the year by planting trees in Lady Spring Woods, which was also part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations,“ she said.
“In July the celebrations continued with a trip to Preston Park where the girls had a wonderful day.”
Mrs Downing said to continue the celebrations they were holding the open afternoon and Brownie members would also be taking part in a sponsored disco.
“The afternoon will start by cutting the birthday cake and include a raffle, with proceeds for the British Heart Foundation, a display of photographs and memorabilia from the past 60 years and fashion show organised by the Brownies displaying seasonal clothes as part of the World Traveller interest badge,” she said.
“The afternoon is open to family and friends, Brownies past, present and future, who we hope will be able to join us in our celebrations.”
The open afternoon takes place at St Peter’s Church House on Saturday, November 2, 1.30pm-3.30pm.
