Fish shop serves up extreme challenge for charity
FOUR men will push their bodies to the limit in an extreme challenge, but not of the physical kind.
Phil Jarvis, of Peasey Hill Fish & Chip shop in Malton, will put the local residents through their paces as they test the capacity of their stomachs in a man versus fish challenge.
Similar to the style of American reality TV show Man v Food, the contestants will compete against each other to try to eat an abnormally large-sized portion of food. In this case, a 40oz fish.
Phil said: “It is a humungous fish and then with an awful lot of chips and then mushy peas, it will be a lot of food.
“I’m not sure whether anyone will be able to do it; it will be a big challenge.”
Brothers Dominic and Aaron Coates will go head-to-head against each other alongside Ryan Corner and Ryan Wright in the eating challenge.
Organised by Phil’s son Stephen, the event is hoping to raise at least £500 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution which provides a 24-hour lifeboat and rescue service across the country.
The idea for the challenge came about after Stephen had watched Man v Food on television and wanted to do something similar.
The pair are inviting spectators, and anyone else who may want to enter, to join them on Saturday at the shop at 5pm, for a 5.30pm start.
