Emergency MapMe initiative from Yorkshire Ambulance Service
8:20am Tuesday 1st October 2013 in News
RESDENTS living in the county’s most remote locations will can sign up to a new initiative to make sure emergency services can easily get to their home.
MapMe allows householders to share key information about the location of their hard-to-reach property so it can be found as quickly as possible in the event of a medical emergency.
With some remote properties, it may be that they are known by a name rather than a street number, share a postcode with other properties in the area, or are at the end of a small country lane known only to locals, Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said.
David Williams, deputy director of operations, said: “Every second counts in a medical emergency when someone is seriously ill or injured and our staff do everything they can to reach patients as quickly as possible.
“If you think your property is difficult to find, we would urge you to complete a simple online form detailing specific directions and access information for your property.
To register with MapMe, visit the Yorkshire Ambulance Service website at www.yas.nhs.uk, and MapMe can be found in the ‘Calling 999’ section. Alternatively follow the link:
