X-ray scanner boost for Malton Hospital
11:36am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
MALTON Hospital is set to get a state-of-the-art digital X-ray scanner machine thanks to the League of Friends.
The group originally purchased an X-ray scanner for the hospital in 1990, however, when they heard it had broken down recently, they decided to replace it using money from their funds.
The new machine can be operated both digitally and manually, ensuring its longevity.
Jezz Kipling, chairman of the Friends, said: ‘‘We are very proud that we have been able to help the hospital and its patients in this way. The sole purpose of the Friends is to support the services of Malton, Norton and District Hospital by purchasing additional equipment for patients and staff.”
Jezz said they would like to thank the people of the Ryedale community and the surrounding area for their support, from helping with fundraising activities and supporting social events, to using their charity shop in Malton.
“We would not be able to make such a difference without their continued help. Once again, a big thank-you for all the help from the local community and long may it continue,” he said.
The hospital will take delivery of the machine later this year.
