League of Friends buys new x-ray scanner for Malton Hospital

Malton Hospital is set to get a new digital x-ray scanner machine worth thousands of pounds thanks to the hospital’s League of Friends.
The group originally bought an x-ray scanner for the hospital in 1990. When members heard it had broken down recently they decided to replace it using money from their funds. The new machine can be operated both digitally and manually, ensuring its longevity.
Friends chairman Jezz Kipling said: “We are very proud that we have been able to help the hospital and its patients in this way. Over the years we have been able to buy many items, from ultra-sound equipment to walking sticks, amounting to nearly £2.1 million-worth of donations over the past 36 years.
“We would like to thank the people of the Ryedale community and the surrounding area for their continued and loyal support, from helping with fundraising activities and supporting our social events to using our charity shop in the heart of Malton.” The hospital will take delivery of the machine later this year.
