Thieves target fuel and mower in Ryedale villages
Malton police are appealing for information following two thefts from nearby villages over the weekend.
Fuel was stolen from a vehicle in Ampleforth, and an £8,500 mower was stolen from Gillamoor.
The fuel thieves hit sometime between 6pm on Friday, August 30 and noon on Sunday, September 1.
They cut the fuel pipes on a Land Rover parked on Geldgate, Ampleforth, and stole around three-quarters of a tank of fuel.
PC Louise Beck from Malton police said: “If you saw any suspicious activity in the Ampleforth and specifically the Geldgate area, I urge you to contact the police straight away.”

Later in the weekend a yellow Stiga Titan mower, worth £8,500, was stolen from a field near Gillamoor. It was taken sometime between 9am on Sunday and 10am on Monday, September 2.
Malton police's PC Katie Shaw is asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.
She said: “I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw any unusual vehicles as I believe the thieves will have used a van or trailer to remove the mower.“
