12:45pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
THE next Malton Food Lovers Market will celebrate autumn with a Harvest Festival theme and bread baking demonstrations.
Craft baker Phil Clayton will be at the market holding free chef demonstrations.
Market organiser Tom Naylor-Leyland said: “Bread has always been one of the symbols celebrating the safe gathering of the harvest, so we are delighted to have Phil demonstrating his skills and passion for the art of traditional bread-making.”
The market has also announced the appointment of a new volunteer co-ordinator. Andrew Riley, who is married with two grown-up sons, has lived and worked in the Malton area for 18 years, and wanted to get involved as a food lover and enthusiastic cook.
Andrew said: “I am very excited about becoming actively involved. I think it’s great that Malton CIC provides these regular opportunities for local producers to promote their wares. I’ll be recruiting and managing the fantastic volunteers who help out at the Food Lovers Markets and the annual Food Lovers Festival to ensure we always have enough people to help make them a great success.”
The market takes place the second Saturday of every month with the next on September 14 from 9am-3pm in the Milton Rooms.
