A FORMER member of a Malton choir has broken the record for the world’s loudest town crier.
David Hinde used to live in Scagglethorpe and sing with the Malton Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society and is now Bridlington’s town crier.
He has recorded a cry of 114.8 decibels, higher than the previous record of 112.8 which was set by Gloucester town crier Alan Myatt 22 years ago.
He gave the record-breaking cry in Sewerby Park, Bridlington, watched by Mayor Of Bridlington Coun Terry Dixon and Driffield’s town crier Brian Fairfield.
Hunmanby-based noise experts Cirrius Research helped out by recording and measuring David’s cry with their recording equipment
