9:09am Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
Apprentice jockey Rachel Richardson swapped horses for hats to help launch Ladies Day at Thirsk Racecourse. The annual event takes place on Saturday, and the racecourse is encouraging punters to dress to impress for the Best Dressed competitions.
Alongside the traditional best dressed lady and ladies’ best hat contests, and following on from the success of last year’s inaugural competition, Thirsk will once again be hosting a Best Dressed Gentleman contest, offering men a chance to match the girls for sartorial elegance.
The winner of the best dressed lady and best dressed gentleman competitions will each receive a £300 voucher from Barkers of Northallerton and the two runners-up in both categories will each receive a £100 voucher.
Course manager James Sanderson said: “Thirsk’s annual Ladies’ Day event has grown considerably in recent years. The addition of the best dressed gentleman competition has been a tremendous success and the boys are definitely up for giving the ladies some serious competition in the glamour stakes.”
