Firefighters battle moors blaze near Fylingdales
They were called to a moor fire measuring 100m by 40m on land off the A169, between Flyindales and Sleights at around 4.30pm on Saturday, August 31.
Five fire crews from Robins Hoods Bay, Goathland, Scarborough and Whitby and nearby RAF Fylingdales all went to the scene. They used hose reel jets to tackle the flames which had taken hold on the moorland.
They also called for specialist equipment - including a water bowser from Tadcaster a Scot Track from Kirkbymoorside - but left the scene once darkness fell.
