New home for Doug Taylor Tiling in Kirkbymoorside

A FAMILY business in Kirkbymoorside has moved into new premises after outgrowing its old home in just 10 months.
Doug Taylor Tiling has moved around the corner from its showroom on the Kirkby Mills industrial estate to bigger premises, and opened the new site to customers.
Owner Doug Taylor has been working as a tiler around Ryedale all his life, and decided to start selling tiles as well when his grandson, Philip Ward joined him as a partner. They took on a small unit on the estate which was orignally used as a store.
“Everyone asked if we sold tiles as well, so we decided to try it,” said Doug.
Now less than a year later they have expanded their retail trade and moved into a bigger site.
Their new home has given space for a bigger range of stock, including items from all over the world.
They are working with Yoxalls Handmade Kitchens of Pickering to put a display of their kitchens into the new showroom. And they will also offer bespoke services which let people put their own images – anything from pictures to maps – on tiles.
The business is a family run enterprise with Doug’s wife Veronica helping out in the shop alongside Philip’s partner Anna, and Doug’s son-in-law Sean Wilson also helping out as a tiler.
