New dress shop Dress2Impress opens in Kirkbymoorside
2:24pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
A THEATRE-LOVER from Kirkbymoorside has teamed up her next door neighbour to launch a business specialising in clothes and fancy dress.
Margaret Makinson, who has a passion for amateur dramatics, and Cate Pickard opened the doors on their new venture Dress2Impress in old Community Offices behind the Memorial Hall earlier this month.
Margaret, who has retired from her job as a care team leader at Welburn Hall School, has amassed a wide collection of costumes and fancy dress which can now be hired or purchased for parties or themed events.
The business will also sell second-hand designer and quality clothing for adults and children, operate as a dress agency where customers can bring along clothing for Dress2Impress to sell on a commission basis, and offer an ironing service with delivery within a 10-mile radius of Kirkbymoorside.
With its home in the former public toilets, Cate and Margaret hope customers will not be put off by the building’s past use, and entrances which still feature the original ‘ladies’ and ‘gentlemen’ carvings over the doorways.
