Sight Support Ryedale holds open morning
8:00am Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
A MALTON-based charity is holding an open morning next week.
Sight Support Ryedale in Yorkersgate provides support for sight-impaired people in the area.
The event aims to offer people the chance to find out more about the charity and how it can help.
Chief officer Janice Every said: “Come and discover the range of social and practical help on offer through our charity.
“We can – and do – make a difference, enabling sight-impaired people living in Ryedale to enjoy friendship, activities and trips out, while improving the quality of their life at home.”
Sight Support offers a range of opportunities, such as social groups, yoga, walking, book group, craft activities – all specially-tailored for people with reduced or no sight, and all supported by a team of helpful and understanding volunteers.
Christine Collins, one of the members, said: “With assistance from Sight Support and my new found confidence, I’m getting out and about and joining in with lots of groups, and I’m able to be more independent too which is brilliant. I would not have achieved this without the help of Sight Support. I think of them as my life savers.”
The open morning will be held on Thursday, August 29, 10am-1pm.
