Three jailed for cheating OAPs

THREE men who conned elderly victims from North Yorkshire out of thousands of pounds have been jailed.
Michael Dolan, 19, and his 48-year-old father Edward Dolan, of Allen Grove, Stokesley, were convicted of defrauding an 84-year-old man from Marske-by-the-Sea of £17,500 between 2009 and 2011, as well as money-laundering through cheques taken from the pensioner.
Dolan Jr and William Jacob McElvaney, 19, of Ainthorpe Lane, Whitby, were also found guilty of conning an 89-year-old dementia sufferer from Hutton Rudby by claiming to be doing gardening work at her home last June.
Michael Dolan was sentenced to two years’ detention in a young offenders Institute, McElvaney received nine months’ detention and Edward Dolan was given a 15-month jail sentence following an investigation by North Yorkshire County Council trading standards officials.
