THE man accused of killing York businessman Peter Battle has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Graham Richardson, 27, of Riverside View, Norton, currently in Wakefield Prison, also faces a charge of theft, one of robbery, and one of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Mr Battle was a 56-year-old antiques dealer and eBay trader, who was found dead in his bungalow at Full Sutton in January. He had been dead for some time.
Richardson, who appeared by videolink at Teesside Crown Court yesterday, pleaded not guilty to murder and not guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
He pleaded guilty to theft from Mr Battle between December 2012 and January this year and he also pleaded guilty to robbing Michael Cleaver, who wanted to sell £4,100 worth of scrap gold in York.
Darren Archer, 43, of Robinson Court, Walmgate, York, and Peter Egan, 48, of Warwick Street, York, also appeared in the same court hearing, also charged with the robbery of Mr Cleaver. Neither entered a plea.
The charges have now been joined, and a trial is expected in November. Richardson and Egan were remanded in custody. Archer was granted bail.
