Convenience store in pipeline as part of Helmsley homes plan
11:35am Wednesday 7th August 2013 in News
A NEW convenience store is on the drawing board as part of a housing scheme on the edge of Helmsley.
The town council was told that a store of 3,000 sq ft retail space and a further 1,000 sq ft storage and car parking was planned as part of the 15-home development alongside the A170 near Carlton Lane.
But Coun Jane Barker said she was concerned that the store, which is believed to be the Co-operative, could take trade away from existing shops in the market town.
Formal details of the scheme by Wharfedale Homes have yet to be submitted to the planning authorities.
