Malton's monthly Food Lovers Market gets off to good start

MALTON’S first monthly Food Lovers Market of the year got off to a positive start, despite the unseasonal weather.

Organisers said there was a lot of positive feedback from customers and traders alike regarding the quality and range of produce available.

James Costello, of Costello’s Bakery, said: “It really was a lousy day weatherwise. Nonetheless, we still think that the market had a positive vibe from the customers who did venture out and I’m convinced that in a few months it will be thriving.”

Tom Naylor-Leyland, of the Malton CIC, said it was a steep learning curve organising the new monthly market.

“We have already identified ways we could make it better but we are keen to work together with the producers to make this the best regular food market in the area,” he said.

“We have already made a fantastic start and together we are going to achieve great things.”

The next monthly Food Lovers Market is Saturday, April 13.
