ENTHUSIASTS will be converging on Pickering next month to take part in the town’s fourth annual walking festival.

Pauline Hukin, chairman of Pickering Walkers are Welcome – part of a national organisation which encourages people to step out and improve the nation’s health – said at least 100 walkers were expected to take part, from April 19-21.

The festival will feature nine walks, ranging from one of just two miles to one of 16 miles.

Others, said Mrs Hukin, will focus on the Bridestones and Jurassic history and another will explore the hunting grounds of English kings, from William the Conqueror through to the 18th century.

“Walking is a wonderful way to keep healthy and appreciate the countryside at the same time,” she added.
