Ampleforth housing development back on agenda

COUNCILLORS will be asked to rethink their decision to block controversial plans for 30 new homes in a North Yorkshire village next week.

Ryedale District Council’s planning committee last month voted to turn down proposals by David Wilson Homes for a development on land in Station Road, Ampleforth, despite planners having recommended approving the scheme.

The application was deferred until the authority’s next planning committee meeting, which takes place on Tuesday, for a “cooling-off” period. Planning officers have again said the development should be allowed to go ahead.
