New gateway signs for Norton

Norton Town Council has been given £6,326 through Ryedale District Council’s Community Investment Fund to provide two new gateway signs in Scarborough Road and Welham Road.

Town clerk Ros Tierney said a second bid was being put forward for the enhancement of the Riverside Fields, repairing the footpath paving, and an extension to the handrail at the bus station. Riverside picnic tables are to be repaired and refurbished and new life-saving equipment is to be provided.

“The estimated cost for all the work is about £10,000 and we are seeking £8,912 from the fund,” said Mrs Tierney.
