MURDER: Arrested pair remain in custody

TWO people remain in police custody after they were arrested in connection with the murder of a man in a North Yorkshire seaside town.

North Yorkshire Police were called to an address in Spring Hill Court, Whitby, by paramedics at about 11.25pm on Friday, after a 32-year-old man suffered serious chest injuries.

Officers attended the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead by ambulance staff, and arrested a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man in connection with the death.

The road was closed yesterday to allow police searches as part of their investigation.

A police spokeswoman said they were not in a position to release the identity of the dead man, but urged anyone with any information which could assist their investigation to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
