Sign on to keep your postal vote

VOTERS in the Scarborough area who usually vote by post have been urged to submit a fresh signature to ensure their vote counts in future ballots.

Because people’s signatures and circumstances can change over time, Scarborough Borough Council’s Electoral Registration Officer is obliged to ask for updated personal identifiers to be submitted every five years Of the 2,083 signature refresh forms sent out to residents who have had a postal, proxy or postal proxy vote since January 2008, only 1,200 have so far been returned.

If people no longer wish to vote by post they just need to tick the box on the reverse of the letter and send it back to the council in the pre-paid envelope.
