Robin Hood’s Bay cottages at risk from erosion

EXPERTS have warned that cottages at Robin Hood’s Bay could be at risk from future coastal erosion unless steps are taken to address the problem.

A report to Scarborough Borough Council’s cabinet says action is needed to protect more than 40 cottages in the picturesque former fishing village on the Yorkshire coast.

It raises concerns about the state of existing seawall defences at the foot of the village.

Five cottages in Whitby, just up the coast from Robin Hood’s Bay, had to be demolished in December following a landslide.
