KIRKBYMOORSIDE has a new town clerk, Lisa Bolland, who has taken over the role after a career in events and office management.

Kenyan-born Lisa lived in Nairobi before moving to the UK. She studied sports science at the University of Wales Institute, then lived in London for three years before becoming an events manager in St Albans.

She has also worked for a retirement care group in property management, and in sheltered housing.

She moved to North Yorkshire with her husband, Paul, who was brought up in Easingwold. She was a member of the British hockey team at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, and today plays for York Hockey Club.

Lisa, who has a baby daughter, Abigail Megan, said: “Being a town clerk is a new challenge and I’m very much looking forward to working in my new position.”
