STAFF at Ryedale Folk Museum are hoping to find the owners of two gold rings which they believe could have sentimental value.

The rings were uncovered while staff were moving the museum’s library to its new building.

Emma McKenzie, learning development officer and events co-ordinator, said the rings were discovered with a note saying “found 18.5.97 in museum by back door in gravel”.

“I know its a long shot, but after 16 years it would be lovely to find the owners of the rings and we felt our only hope was through the Gazette,” she said.

“They look like wedding rings and have inscriptions on the inside so could be identified by the right owner if they came forward.

“They look like they both have meaning to the owners and are of sentimental value, so it we would love to reunite them.”

Anyone who recognises the rings or believes they are the owners, should phone Ryedale Folk Museum on 01751 417367.
